Our pecorino cheese among the best dairy products in Italy
We won! Our farm was awarded the Gold Medal at the Caesus Veneti National Farm Cheese Competition.
The pecorino produced with the milk of our Istrian-Karst sheep received an award that has made us very happy and rewards the effort we put into managing the farm every day.
Raw milk, rennet, Piran salt and a lot of passion let us take first place in the category of semi-hard/hard pecorino cheeses.
The event, sponsored among others by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Policies and now in its 15th edition, saw 300 cheeses competing in various categories.
Why is it so special?
Istrian-Karst sheep - for which we have begun a repopulation campaign in our territory - produce less milk but of a high quality. Herein, perhaps, lies the product's secret.
The quantity of cheese is limited because we raise a sustainable number of animals, respecting the natural timing for producing milk. After all, this allows us to create a high-quality product.
